The first thing to know before taking your car in for your first tire change is the size of your car tire. Today, I will be teaching you how to read the tire size on your car wheel.
The tire size consists of three sets of number: the width of the cross-section, the sidewall's height, and the diameter of the wheel located on the side of the tire. As shown in the sample picture, the tire size is: 215/60R16

The first set of number is the width of the cross-s measured in millimeters, for example 215 millimeters.

The second set of number is the height of the tire's sidewall, it will be called in series of number, in this case "60". 60 is the percentage of height compared to the width of the tire cross-section, which can be calculated as follows: ( 60 / 100 ) x 215 = 129 millimeters.

The third set of number is the diameter of the wheel and it is measured in inches. For example 16 inches.
